Pick of the Week: Aurette

3:49 PM

You know what I love? Calm and breezy tunes with circus-y, carnival-ly melodies lulling the listener to complete tranquility. Indie Indonesian band Aurette and the Polska Seeking Carnival fits in the description perfectly, and they have just posted their self titled EP on Soundcloud, where I myself am a proud follower.

My first song experience from Aurette was when I first listened to their cover of Beirut's "Postcard from Italy". I love Beirut, and to hear a girl sing Zach Condon was like a breath of fresh ocean air and the band made the song as fantastic as the original.

Zach Condon's tongue needs to go back in where it belongs.
So when the band put up their EP on Soundcloud, I wanted to share how much I love it by writing a review of our Pick of the Week.

SEEKING CARNIVAL
Instrumentals aren't usually the highlight of any record for some people, and this one definitely isn't the best part of the record but it is great nonetheless. The track gives you the exact idea and imagery of what the band wanted to portray, and it's easygoing carnival theme makes you want to go to a fun fair with a date, eat cotton candy and ride on a rusty big wheel.

I LOVE YOU MORE THAN PIZZA
The title is super cute and romantic, and what makes this song even more incredible is that she sings in French in some parts besides English! This is definitely a song to put in a playlist for an Italian/French hybrid dinner date. One of the standout tracks in this EP!

LETTER TO YOU
The poppy sounds is pretty different from their regular tunes and it reminds me more of what indie pop should be.

LIES IN A CUP OF CAPPUCCINO
Seriously the titles of the songs are so damn cute I can't even take it. The beginning is so nostalgic you'll know you're going to love it already, and when it gets to the actual song you'll know you were right. It sort of reminds me of 'She and Him' takes on a circus.

SOMEDAY SOMETIME
The melodies in the lyrics are beautiful, like a bit of Oasis meets Band of Horses. The song is melancholic and there is a certain sadness in it that I love a lot.

WONDERLAND
It's like something you listen to in the rain, in the middle of Paris, France, with no umbrella and just your dress and wellington boots kicking in some puddles. But then again it also sounds like something you listen to if you're in a candy store and you don't know where to even turn first. It's wonderful.

OUTRO
Short, cute and flamboyant.

Thanks for uploading your songs, Aurette!
